Fabrication is a process of converting raw steel into desired components by using various techniques such as cutting, bending, welding, and assembling. At SLEW, our fabrication engineers guide the workmen with every minute detail recommended by our design team to achieve the desired quality. We deliver structural products on time so that our transportation partners can assure that the components reach the site as agreed.
The process of assembling the fabricated steel components to form a structure as per design requirements is known as erection. This is usually done through bolting or in some cases welding. We use large cranes and machinery for site installation to cut down on costs. Our execution engineers on-site ensure that everything needed for erection is ready before the components reach the site so that the erection goes as per the schedule. At SLEW, we have a team of safety-certified personnel to monitor the whole erection process.
Steel is prone to corrosion that affects the durability of the structure. To prevent corrosion, we limit exposure of steel surfaces to the outside atmosphere through blasting and painting. The process involves forcibly propelling the gush of abrasive material on to the metal surface under high pressure to obtain a smoother finish. The materials used for blasting are usually sand or grit referred to as sandblasting and grit blasting. Then the steel surface is painted by using a paint gun.
